The aims of the trauma-network are:

 

• To improve the health care situation of traumatised women suffering from the health-related consequences of gender-specific violence.

• To promote the work of NGOs committed to helping traumatised women and providing them with practical support.

• To provide support to women affected in their search for competent help.

• To sensitise all groups in society and those in charge of national and European policies, and in particular the relevant professional groups involved in health care and social services.

• To disseminate PTSD training materials and the according training concept.

• To collect and publish relevant data concerning the connection between post-traumatic stress disorder and violence against women.

• To promote a relevant discourse in specialist circles.

• To improve training and further training of those professional groups which potentially work with traumatised women.

• To develop and promote effective standards in medical and social care for traumatised women which are recognised Europe-wide.

• To promote inclusion of figures about the care situation of traumatised women in corresponding reports, such as the national CEDAW reports and according national shadow reports.

• To boost the exchange of information between women's organisations.

• To intensify cooperation between women's organisations all over Europe.

• To facilitate cooperation between women's organisations and psychotraumatology, medicine, social services, police.
